Generator Technician
Company: Sons of Thunder
Location: Camdenton, MO

Position Overview

Sons of Thunder is seeking a skilled Generator Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain residential, commercial, and industrial generators. This role focuses on dependable backup power systems, including diesel, natural gas, and propane units. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, and experienced with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on standby and portable generators
• Troubleshoot electrical systems including control panels, transfer switches, and wiring
• Service engines (diesel, gas, propane) including fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems
• Conduct load bank testing and performance evaluations
• Install and commission new generator systems and automatic transfer switches (ATS)
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
• Maintain accurate service records and reports
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
• Provide on-site and emergency service calls as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in generator repair, small engines, or related equipment
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and engine mechanics
• Experience with brands like Generac, Kohler, Cummins, or similar preferred
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and multimeters
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor environments

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of automatic transfer switches (ATS) and control systems
• EPA certifications or electrical licensing a plus
• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
• Welding or fabrication experience is a bonus
