Job Summary
National Gear Repair Inc. is seeking an experienced Gearbox Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, rebuild, and test industrial gearboxes and related power transmission equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with rotating equipment, and takes pride in producing high-quality repairs that meet or exceed OEM and AGMA standards.

Responsibilities
• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, repair, and rebuild industrial gearboxes of various manufacturers.
• Measure and inspect gears, shafts, bearings, housings, and seals for wear and damage.
• Replace bearings, seals, gears, shafts, and other internal gearbox components.
• Perform precision assembly and alignment to OEM specifications.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and technical manuals.
• Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and calipers.
• Conduct gearbox testing and verify proper operation before shipment.
• Maintain detailed repair records and inspection reports.
• Follow AGMA guidelines and company quality procedures throughout the repair process.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Qualifications
• Experience repairing and rebuilding industrial gearboxes, speed reducers, or power transmission equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of bearings, gears, shafts, lubrication systems, and rotating machinery.
• Ability to safely operate shop equipment, overhead cranes, and lifting devices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a skilled repair team.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with custom gearbox manufacturing or reverse engineering.
• Familiarity with AGMA standards and gearbox inspection procedures.
• Welding or machining experience is a plus.
• Technical school or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred.
