About Us
Established in 1932, Heights Armature Works is an EASA-Certified Service Center providing premier AC/DC motor, generator, and industrial pump repairs across Greater Houston. Operating out of our 12,000 sq. ft. facility, we are seeking a skilled Electric Motor Mechanic with at least 5 years of hands-on experience to handle shop repairs and rebuilds.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, overhaul, and test AC and DC electric motors up to 600 HP, including standard NEMA frame configurations.

• Disassemble rotating equipment, evaluate mechanical/electrical wear, measure tolerances with precision tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators), and log initial fault findings.

• Perform mechanical repairs including mechanical assembly, bearing replacement, shaft fitting, housing restoration, and dynamic balancing.

• Conduct electrical diagnostics, insulation resistance (Megger), surge testing, stator/armature resistance checks, and mechanical run-testing prior to final sign-off.

• Perform preventative maintenance, reconditioning, dip-and-bake insulation procedures, and complete teardown-to-assembly installations in-house.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven experience repairing AC/DC motors, NEMA frame equipment, and industrial rotating machinery in a motor shop environment.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of motor mechanical components, bearings, armatures, commutators, and electro-mechanical testing equipment.

• Physical Capability: Ability to safely operate overhead shop cranes (up to 15,000 lbs capacity), rigging gear, and heavy repair machinery.

• Work Ethic: Detail-oriented focus on safety, OEM standards, and quality craftsmanship.
