Location: Tracy, CA
Job description
Generator Dynamic Service Inc. is seeking to hire an experienced Diesel Power Generator Technician to support home and industrial power systems. This position focuses on the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of large diesel-powered generator sets used in industrial facilities, data centers, agricultural operations, manufacturing plants, and critical infrastructure.
The ideal candidate has strong diesel engine experience, advanced electrical troubleshooting ability, and the confidence to work independently in demanding industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial diesel generator systems
• Perform preventive maintenance on standby and prime power units
• Conduct load bank testing, system commissioning, and performance verification
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, fuel systems, turbochargers, cooling systems, and exhaust systems
• Diagnose and repair generator ends, voltage regulators, and excitation systems
• Troubleshoot and service automatic transfer switches (ATS) and industrial control panels
• Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and manufacturer service manuals
• Perform engine overhauls and major component replacements when required
• Respond to emergency service calls for critical power failures
• Maintain detailed service documentation and compliance records
• Follow OSHA and industrial site safety standards
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience servicing industrial diesel generators or heavy diesel equipment
• Strong knowledge of large diesel engines (Cummins, CAT, MTU, Kohler, etc.)
• Experience with 3-phase power systems and generator controls
• Proficient with multimeters, diagnostic software, and load testing equipment
• Ability to work independently at industrial job sites
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Willingness to work overtime and respond to after-hours emergency calls
Preferred Skills
• Experience supporting mission-critical facilities (data centers, hospitals, manufacturing plants)
• Generator paralleling systems knowledge
• PLC or controller troubleshooting experience
• EPA diesel certification (a plus)
• CDL (a plus, not required)
