AP Electric & Generators was founded in 1999 in the suburbs of Chicago and has earned an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). We started as electricians focused on selling, installing and servicing home standby generators and backup power solutions in the Chicago area. In 2005 we became the pioneers of internet sales in our industry. Since that time, we have grown to be one of the largest on-line distributors of backup power generators in the country. We have successfully served over 100,000 customers since the internet sales opened in 2005.

In 2013 we moved our company’s headquarters to Wisconsin. Our move was facilitated by two (2) primary business drivers: first, we needed a larger facility to support our growth and secondly we wanted to be in closer proximity to the major manufacturers of generators. We are now located within 90 minutes of four (4) of the leading manufacturers of home standby, portable and commercial generators (Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton and Westinghouse). This is extremely important during ‘weather events’ that can sometimes create product shortages within the industry. Due to our strong relationships with the major generator manufacturers we have one of the highest product allocations during peak demand situations. Simply stated, we don’t have to worry about delivering on our promises of quick delivery and you don’t have to worry about supply shortages either.
