Job Description

HECO is hiring in Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. We now service steel mills, auto manufacturers, energy, and pharmaceutical companies throughout the Midwest.

We are currently seeking a VFD Technician to join our shop.

The Control Technician will be required to troubleshoot service, install, configure, and program a variety of electrical devices; VFDs, PLCs, encoders, linear components, servos, control panels, and similar controls. Test or modify developmental or operational electrical machinery or electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants or utilities. Must also be able to communicate and present themselves in a professional manner to the customer.

Must be highly competent hand soldering surface mount components. Must be able to identify all common electronic components. Must have soldering and de-soldering expertise for both thru-hole and surface mount. VFD, Drive, Robotic Controls Repair experience.

Responsibilities

The VFD / PLC Technician will support our Company’s operations with the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our in-house Integrated Motor & VFD Control products, while limiting our downtime. The Technician will be required to respond to support requests, on-site repairs, and occasionally perform preventative maintenance. The person accepting this full-time position will be resourceful, independent, goal-driven, and most importantly, a team player.

Identifying needs for VFD electronic devices. Installation, repair, and maintenance of PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives, motor drives, and 480v systems. Repairing the old electrical devices and equipment. Performing testing of various PLC / VFD controls units. Checking electrical components stocks levels and restocking them. Reviewing all the electrical components of the controls. Understanding the working of Variable Frequency Drive field equipment. Understanding the workings of PLC equipment. Replacing old or defective electronic devices with new ones. Calibrating the newly installed devices and equipment. Basic PLC troubleshooting. Perform upgrades of hardware and software and train others on how to properly operate the system. Educating and training the team members on these devices. Maintaining the Variable Frequency Devices on a regular basis
