We are currently seeking a Generator Technician to join our team!

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our Generator Field Service Technician will be dispatched to customer sites and will be able diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical power generation equipment while providing a professional and high level of customer service to the satisfaction of our customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable mechanic experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in mechanical, electrical, diesel and natural gas maintenance and repair
  • Field experience (desired but not necessary)
  • Own a mechanic tool set
  • Clean driving record
  • Basic computer skills – Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook

KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS – ABILITIES

  • Ability to diagnose, repair and maintain electric power generation equipment including but not limited to generators, gas and diesel engines, transfer switches and related ancillary equipment
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Knowledge of AC & DC electricity and electronics, engine diagnostics, failure analysis
  • Use a high degree of independent judgment, assumes responsibility for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex equipment and tools, which involve mechanical, gas, diesel, and electrical systems at customer locations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhere to all safety procedures
  • Maintain a service vehicle in a clean and professional manner, and ensure the vehicle is always properly maintained
  • Interact positively with manager and team members to satisfy customer needs
  • Communicate job status with supervisor and communicate job completion to receive the subsequent assignment
  • Maintain electronic documentation of work orders performed in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basis
  • Document labor, change orders and additions of work scope on job sites, to assure that work order can be closed and billed as communicated with the customer
  • Respond to after hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor
  • Identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
  • This position will be working primarily outdoors traveling to numerous customer locations but also requires work to be done in the shop depending on workload. Customer locations are with in Minnesota & Western Wisconsin.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM) Pre-employment physical may be required

  • Push, pull, lift, and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Lift bulky objects
  • Repetitive bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling
  • Overhead and forward reaching and lifting
  • Working conditions may be indoor and/ or outdoor
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Climb and carry a ladder
  • Neck and torso rotation

Salary: $24.00 – $42.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Rotating on call for after hour service calls

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Working with engines: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Working with AC electrical circuit: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Working with DC electrical circuit: 1 year (Preferred)

Work Location: Office in White Bear Lake MN, work is performed mostly around Twin City metro area but we do cover all of Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
