Manual Machinist Job Opening

Electric motor shop based in Long Beach, MS providing electromechanical repair and sales throughout the Gulf region. Been in business over 40 years. We pride ourselves in maintaining a clean facility and retaining great employees.

Were currently seeking an Electric Motor Mechanic.

Job Description: 

Responsible for operating machine tools such as engine lathes, mill machines, boring mill, drill press and a blanchard surface grinder to produce and repair precision metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications.

Job duties and responsibilities:

Machinist, produces precisely engineered parts used to build instruments, machines and tools. Duties include setting up equipment, operating equipment and inspecting finished parts. Machinist will be machining – gears, spline shafts, couplings, propeller shafts, keyways, etc.

The biggest responsibility of a Machinist is to make parts that fully meet all required specifications. To achieve this primary goal, they typically perform the following Machinist job duties:

  • Analyzing specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements
  • Developing a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications
  • Measuring and marking raw materials needed to manufacture parts
  • Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan
  • Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly
  • Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise
  • Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects
  • Maintaining equipment located throughout the shop
  • Repair and and service pumps and electric motors
  • Disassemble and reassemble various types of rotating equipment, such as pumps, centrifugal, submersible, vertical, turbine, gear reducers, power transmissions, generators, gearboxes, electric motors, and blowers
  • Set tolerances for bearing fit and clearances, motor connections, and testing
  • Laser alignment/vibration analysis
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all customers
  • Work as needed around the shop

Qualifications:

  • Technical/Vocational training preferred, prior work experience at electric motor shop a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Relative understanding of machinery.
  • Computer proficiency as required for communication, research, work orders and programming various controllers.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and work in industrial environments including extremes in temperature with continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling.
