We are a Small Engine Mechanic Shop serving Connecticut and the surrounding area for over 20 years. If your an experienced Mechanic, this job posting is for you!
We are currently seeking a Small Engine Mechanic to join our team!
Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various small, gasoline-powered engines found on equipment like lawnmowers, pump sprayer, hedge trimmer, weed wacker, snowblowers, and generators. They diagnose issues, perform repairs, and carry out routine maintenance. Small Engine Mechanics will oftentimes work on-site for our customers. Prior work at Small Engine Shop a plus!
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Troubleshooting and Diagnosis: Identifying the root cause of engine problems using diagnostic tools and knowledge of small engine systems.
• Routine Maintenance: Performing tasks like oil changes, spark plug replacements, and air filter changes.
• Repairs: Fixing or replacing worn, damaged, or defective engine components.
• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of repairs, parts used, and time spent on jobs.
• Customer Communication: Discussing repair needs and providing estimates to customers.
• Preventative Maintenance: Following scheduled maintenance plans to ensure equipment reliability.
• Operating Equipment: Operating and familiarizing themselves with the equipment they repair.
• Inventory Management: Maintaining inventory of parts and supplies.
• Assist Other Trades: Helping other mechanics or technicians as needed.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical principles and engine systems.
• Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hand tools and specialized equipment.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and solve engine problems efficiently.
• Attention to Detail: Accurate work and record-keeping.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication with customers and colleagues.
• Customer-Focused Attitude: Providing excellent customer service.
• Knowledge of Small Engine Systems: Familiarity with two-stroke and four-stroke engines.
• Ability to Follow Instructions: Following manufacturer’s specifications and repair manuals.
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, trade school, minimum of 5 years experience.
