Repair Shop Supervisor – Motors/Machine Shop/Mechanical
Reports to: Brian Moore, Production Supervisor
Location: Repair Shop at GPC General Services Headquarters, 62 Lake Mirror Rd Building #9, Forest Park, GA 30297
Job Summary
This Repair Shop position provides leadership and oversight for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the work activities of the Motor Shop. This position manages the refurbishment and rebuilds of motors and generators for Southern Nuclear, Georgia Power Generation, Southern Power, and other Southern Company generating facilities as well as various field services.
Education Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent,
• Two-year degree preferred but not required.
Job Requirements – (Experience, Knowledge, and Skills)
• Leadership experience of 5 years or more is desired
• 5 years of experience working in a department subject to auditing and compliance to an industry recognized standard like ISO 9000, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, or the like is a plus
• Knowledge of electric motors and rotating equipment is highly desired
• Machine shop experience of 8 years or more, using vertical knee mill machines, horizontal engine lathes, horizontal boring mills, and vertical turret lathes is desired
• Metal fabrication and welding experience is a plus
• Assembling and dismantling of rotating apparatus experience a plus
• Maintenance and equipment repair experience desired
• Demonstrated organization skills and understanding of IBEW and local craft labor contracts desired,
• Proficient in relevant computer applications – working knowledge of Microsoft Office, timekeeping, and work management tools (planning and scheduling)
• Ability to work with people to achieve organizational objectives
• Ability to make decisions and demonstrate short/long-term strategic vision of the Repair Shop
• Must be able to support 24/7 operation including holidays, nights, and weekends when necessary
Job Responsibilities
• Provide leadership, direction, and support to union employees
• Participate, Support and Promote the Repair Shop’s 10 CFR 50, Appendix B, 1E/Nuclear Program
• Responsible for employee training, development, and performance management
• Develop work orders with detailed descriptions and job plans including assignment of estimated completion man-hours
• Order materials for jobs; this includes generating purchase request
• Develop, execute, and assess the work plan/schedule
• Ensure that maintenance activities are effectively executed per Multiple Week Plan
• Attend and participate in the planning meetings
• Foster an environment of teamwork, self-motivation, open communication, and customer support
• Participation in the Repair Shop “On-Call Rotation” and storm restoration events

Salary and Benefits
$ 126,300 and $127,500 yearly salary, plus a yearly bonus targeted at 15% of annual pay to the right candidate.
