A Plus Electric Motor Repair, Inc. of St. Charles, IL and with 11 years serving national and international customers is seeking for motivated, skilled and experienced personnel with the ability to work in groups and individually in the following area:

Qualifications:

Job Summary: In this position individual will learn to perform to rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reviews wiring diagrams and work order or examines sample coil to ascertain type and size of wire specified, and type, size, length, circumference and primary and secondary windings of coil to be wound.
  • Inspect various kinds of electrical-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions.
  • Test conditions of windings according to company standards.
  • Illustrate and/or document all relevant data specific to unit’s electro-mechanical characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage or intended serviceability.
  • Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Clean electric motors by means of stripping, pressure washing and sandblasting.
  • Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions.
  • Rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment including but not limited to: single-phase, three phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotors and transformers. Observe proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding.
  • Test rewound electro-mechanical equipment according to company standards and document test results.
  • Complete job paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment including winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems and various hand power and non-power tools.
  • Turns setscrews to adjust tension on wire and sets counter for number of turns specified.
  • Wraps insulation between layers and around wound coil or inserts plastic blocks between turns to form cooling ducts.
  • Cuts wire to form leads.
  • Pounds coil with hammer or mallet to shape end windings or remove coil from fixtures.
  • Winds cotton, glass mica, paper or tape around coil and brushes varnish on coil or dips coil in varnish, epoxy or wax to reinforce and seal coil.
  • Strips insulation from end of lead wires, threads lead wire through insulating sleeves or slides sleeves over leads and solder lead wires to terminals.
  • Test coils for winding continuity.
  • Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.)
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.
  • Certification from a Technical school helpful.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer applications.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.

The working days and hours are Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am – 4pm / 8am – 5pm with flexibility to work additional hours as needed. Candidates will be subject to full background check.
