A. PURPOSE OF POSITION

Set up and operate the full compliment of machine tools to machine a variety of parts to meet time and quality standards. Develop sequence of operations and perform complete programming for complex parts on CNC machine tools.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to functions performed by the Utility Person, Machinist C and Machinist B, perform the following:

1. Receive and interpret oral/written instructions from supervisor(s) and/or assigned personnel.
2. Work from oral/written instructions including sketches, samples, data sheets or blueprints.
3. Improvise complex set ups, determine operations sequences and optimum cutting parameters.
4. Operate full compliment of machine tools, performing full range of machining operations on a variety of large and complex parts.
5. Program CNC tools to machine complex shapes and contours and optimize selection and position of tools in tool holder.
6. Assume leadership role in shop and field service projects providing guidance and instructions to other personnel. Communicate and consult with supervisors, engineers, managers and customers to utilize tools necessary for good customer relations.
7. Perform all functions necessary to “lead a group” (group leader) during the disassembly
inspection. Repair, parts manufacture reassembly and installation of all types of motors,
generators, pumps, valves, turbines, etc.
8. Determine machine and equipment malfunctions and make necessary repairs and new parts as required.
9. Maintain a new and orderly work area.
10. May be assigned to field to support service work as required. Must be nuclear ready.

Position Summary
Develop, document and maintain manufacturing processes for aerospace and industrial components in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment with a focus on continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for cultivating and driving companywide productivity initiatives, maintaining a healthy funnel of continuous improvement ideas, and assisting with the development of an effective site strategy and plan. Support Ongoing Production

• Develop, update, and document methods and processes for manufactured parts and assemblies through methods of manufacture, operation sketches, tool sheets, set-up information, and assembly instructions.
• Using lean strategies and methodologies, improve upon inefficient processes, eliminate single point failure areas, and implement process automation initiatives
• Collaborate with the Supply Chain and Operations teams to influence site strategy, planning, and execution
• CNC tooling and fixture design, assembly, and test fixture design
• Day to day support for production operations

Leadership

• Lead cross functional teams through the implementation of continuous improvement projects
• Mentor junior engineers in the implementation of continuous improvement projects

Education and Experience

• This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization
• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline and 5+ years’ experience.

A Blake & Pendleton Service Technician provides maintenance/repair support for its customers. Blake & Pendleton customers operate in a varied type of industries, such as manufacturing, utility, forestry, mining, etc. Blake & Pendleton primarily supports Sullair compressed air equipment but also provides support for many other equipment designs.

A Service Technician must possess a high degree of experience and a desire to improve these skills as equipment modifications change. Service Technicians must have the necessary safety training and certifications as determined by industry agencies (example OSHA, MHSA, etc.). Service Technicians have a fixed schedule for work but also may be required to deviate from schedule per customer’s request as well as required to work on call using an assigned rotating schedule by the Service Manager. Technicians are frequently required to lift over 50 lbs. and occasionally exceed 100 lbs., climb ladders, carry buckets of lubricants weighing between 25 lbs. & 55 lbs., bend as well as work after hours and in inclement weather.

Service Technician requirements are:

 ELECTRICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Read and comprehend P&I drawings, ID/GA drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning and setting controls.
• Must be able to set up rigging equipment and safely remove and reinstall motors, compressors and associated components.
• Must be able to safely use all hand tools and power tools such as drill motors, grinders, band saws, etc.
• Must have understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles and components.
• Knowledge of different types of piping such as types of copper, black, aluminum and galvanized.
• EPA certifications with Freon experience a plus.
• Excellent driving record and able to drive service van or pickup truck is required.
• Complete paperwork daily
• Provide on call response during assigned week

Requirements

ELECTRICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Skilled in troubleshooting 120V control circuits.
• Must be able to read and comprehend wiring diagrams.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and repair single phase and 3Phase motor control circuits up to 480V, such as full voltage, reduced voltage and soft starters as well as 3 phase and single phase motor troubleshooting.
• Must be able to properly use multimeters, ampmeters and infared meters.
• Must be able to successfully perform the above while meeting the Company and
• Customer’s safety requirements.

MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Read and comprehend P&I drawings.
• Troubleshoot and repair various air compressor control components.
• Must be able to perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning and setting controls.
• Must be able to set up rigging equipment and safely remove and reinstall motors, compressors and associated components.
• Must be able to perform motor alignments.
• Must be able to safely use all hand tools and power tools such as drill motors, grinders, band saws, etc.
• Must have understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles and components.
• Knowledge of different types of piping such as types of copper, black and galvanized.
• Knowledge of threading, sweating, brazing and welding a plus.
• Must be able to bend and install control tubing such as 1/4″ and 5/16″ Stainless Steel tubing.

REFRIGERATION: EPA certifications with Freon experience a plus.
